Live test of Daves thwack over my head

I actually tested this on my dev list, after a good quiet morning with a
borrowed cat to rewrite a chunk of code without much interruption.

Sending this from gmail just to make sure it rewrites as apropos:
The actual from should be from Chugalug.org and have valid SPF, DKIM and
DMARC but the visible from line (depends a bit on your email client) should
show:

 "$name via chugalug "

Anyone else have interruption anticipation anxiety?

Almost on topic: Does cloudflare cause almost as many problems as it
supposedly protects against?

Also almost on topic: I'm travelling with an ASUS 24" "portable" MB249C
monitor as a 2nd screen and loving it.

=============================================================== From: Mike Harrison via chugalug ------------------------------------------------------ Just back from a nice walk. I think so! After this short flurry of morning emails after I reset the bounced counter, it looks like 240 email addresses have received the chugalug emails and 25 have bounced 3 times. Melee doesn't try to deliver after 3 bounces. select bounced, count(uniq) as `Count` from chugalug.members group by bounced ; +---------+-------+ | bounced | Count | +---------+-------+ | 0 | 240 | | 3 | 25 | +---------+-------+ Much better than a few weeks ago. About half were bouncing. Now.. whether actual humans got the emails (buried in spam/junk folders? tossed?) is a completely different thing. The reason for long conversational emails (like this one) for what could be as simple as "Seems so!" is trying to get the Heuristic Algorithm "AI" LLM or Green Slime in a Jar to consider these as "Not Spam".. Digression: had "Spam Fries" a few days ago at a bar, spam sticks deep fried like onion rings. Cuz they were on the menu. And while good, not good for me. But hey, never seen such things before, had to try them. Part of this flurry of activity is from being shamed into fixing the Chugalug list by Mary, Dave and others. Partially as prep for possibly giving a short (5 min) talk/rant at DevOpsDays about running your own mail server. https://devopsdays.org/events/2024-chattanooga/welcome/ Who knows if they want an old geek ranting about such boring things as mail servers. No kewl "AI". Just plain old email. Most tech shops seem to outsource it, and while I have (for other people) I find it against the old school internet ethos and harder to troubleshoot other peoples "black hole boxen". But I offered. Now.. I gotta go document a bespoke abomination of an OpenVPN server for another project. aka: How to lie to networks and bypass "firewalls" like Sonicwall (and more advanced things) that want to block your VPN from working. In most cases its just using different ports and making your MTU small (like 768). May your Linux karma be strong! --Meuon--

=============================================================== From: "Jeffrey A. =============================================================== From: Michael Harrison via chugalug ------------------------------------------------------ Am simply replying, from gmail, to double check the "in-reply-to" headers that gmail supposedly uses to thread things together. This is a test of the Chugalug group project "thwack Mike over the head with email for the good of us all system". Had this been an actual email emergency, it would digress in which text editor is used to debug/config biodiesel powered vehicles that use an Apple II as an engine management system. Next week, an AI somewhere will create link bait for "Top 3 Text Editors for Configuring an Apple II managed biodiesel vehicle, you won't believe #5!" uld
